The Portet family holds possibly an unmatched record in the Australian wine industry. Dominique is the 9th generation in his family to be committed to winemaking, and now with one of his sons Ben Portet now taking the heading the business, 10th generations of winemaking is celebrated and on show through their award winning wines.
Since arriving in Australia from Bordeaux in 1976, Dominique was at the forefront of the renaissance of the Australian wine industry, firstly at Taltarni Vineyards in Victoria, and the Clover Hill in Tasmania. In 2000 he founded the Dominique Portet winery, in the Yarra Valley where he has been creating wines in the classic Bordeaux style ever since.
